1 [Ny fahafoanan'ny harena amam-boninahitra] Ho an'ny mpiventy hira. Nataon'ny Koraita. Salamo. Mandrenesa izao, ry firenena rehetra; mihainoa, ry mponina rehetra amin'izao tontolo izao:

2 Na ny ambany, na ny ambony, na ny manan-karena, na ny malahelo.

3 Ny vavako hiteny fahendrena; ary ny fieritreretan'ny foko dia fahalalana.

4 Hanongilana ny sofiko hihaino oha-teny aho, ary hanonona teny saro-pantarina ampiarahiko amin-dokanga.

5 Nahoana no hatahotra amin'ny andro fahoriana aho, nony manodidina ahy ny haratsian'ny mpamingana ahy,

6 Dia izay matoky ny hareny, Sy mirehareha amin'ny haben'ny fananany?

7 Tsy misy mahavotra ny rahalahiny akory, na mahazo manome an'Andriamanitra izay avony,

8 (Fa sarotra avotra ny ainy ka tsy azo atao mandrakizay),

9 Mba ho velona mandrakizay izy, ka tsy ho latsaka ao amin'ny lavaka*.[Na: ho tratry no lò]

10 Fa hita fa maty ihany ny olon-kendry; ary ny adala sy ny ketrina samy levona, ka mamela ny fananany ho an'ny hafa.

11 Araka ny heviny dia ataony fa ho mandrakizay ny tranony, ary ny fonenany hahatratra ny taranaka fara mandimby; araka ny anarany no anononany ny taniny*.[Na: Ankalazaina ny anarany eny amin'ny tany maro]

12 Nefa na dia manana voninahitra aza ny olona, dia tsy maharitra izy; tahaka ny biby izay samy tsy maintsy ho faty izy.

13 Izany no falehan'ny olona adala; ary ny taranany mandimby azy mankasitraka ny teniny.

14 Tahaka ny fanangona ondry no fanangona azy any amin'ny fiainan-tsi-hita*; ny fahafatesana no mpiandry azy; ary hanapaka azy ny mahitsy nony maraina; ary ny bikany ho levona any amin'ny fiainan-tsi-hita*, ka tsy hisy fonenany.[Heb: Sheola]

15 Fa Andriamanitra kosa hamonjy ny aiko amin'ny herin'ny fiainan-tsi-hita,3 satria handray ahy Izy*.[Na: Rehefa azony aho]

16 Aza matahotra ianao, raha misy olona tonga manan-karena, ka mitombo ny voninahitry ny tranony;

17 Fa tsy hitondra na inona na inona izy, raha maty; tsy mba hidina hanaraka azy ny voninahiny.

18 Na dia miarahaba tena aza izy, raha mbola velona - Fa hidera anao ny olona, raha manisy soa ny tenanao ianao -

19 Dia hankany amin'ny razany izy, tsy hahita ny mazava intsony mandrakizay ireny.

20 Izay olona manana voninahitra, nefa tsy manan-tsaina, dia tahaka ny biby izay samy tsy maintsy ho faty.

Psalm 49
1 Hear this, all you peoples.
Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,
2 both low and high,
rich and poor together.
3 My mouth will speak words of wisdom.
My heart shall utter understanding.
4 I will incline my ear to a proverb.
I will open my riddle on the harp.
5 Why should I fear in the days of evil,
when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
6 Those who trust in their wealth,
and boast in the multitude of their riches—
7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother,
nor give God a ransom for him.
8 For the redemption of their life is costly,
no payment is ever enough,
9 That he should live on forever,
that he should not see corruption.
10 For he sees that wise men die;
likewise the fool and the senseless perish,
and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever,
and their dwelling places to all generations.
They name their lands after themselves.
12 But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure.
He is like the animals that perish.
13 This is the destiny of those who are foolish,
and of those who approve their sayings.
Selah.
14 They are appointed as a flock for Sheol.
Death shall be their shepherd.
The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning.
Their beauty shall decay in Sheol,
far from their mansion.
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol,
for he will receive me.
Selah.
16 Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich,
when the glory of his house is increased.
17 For when he dies he shall carry nothing away.
His glory shall not descend after him.
18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul—
and men praise you when you do well for yourself—
19 generation of his fathers.
They shall never see the light.
20 A man who has riches without understanding,
is like the animals that perish.

Psaume 49
1 (49:1) Au chef des chantres. Des fils de Koré. Psaume. (49:2) Écoutez ceci, vous tous, peuples, Prêtez l'oreille, vous tous, habitants du monde,

2 (49:3) Petits et grands, Riches et pauvres!

3 (49:4) Ma bouche va faire entendre des paroles sages, Et mon coeur a des pensées pleines de sens.

4 (49:5) Je prête l'oreille aux sentences qui me sont inspirées, J'ouvre mon chant au son de la harpe.

5 (49:6) Pourquoi craindrais-je aux jours du malheur, Lorsque l'iniquité de mes adversaires m'enveloppe?

6 (49:7) Ils ont confiance en leurs biens, Et se glorifient de leur grande richesse.

7 (49:8) Ils ne peuvent se racheter l'un l'autre, Ni donner à Dieu le prix du rachat.

8 (49:9) Le rachat de leur âme est cher, Et n'aura jamais lieu; 9 (49:10) Ils ne vivront pas toujours, Ils n'éviteront pas la vue de la fosse.

10 (49:11) Car ils la verront: les sages meurent, L'insensé et le stupide périssent également, Et ils laissent à d'autres leurs biens.

11 (49:12) Ils s'imaginent que leurs maisons seront éternelles, Que leurs demeures subsisteront d'âge en âge, Eux dont les noms sont honorés sur la terre.

12 (49:13) Mais l'homme qui est en honneur n'a point de durée, Il est semblable aux bêtes que l'on égorge.

13 (49:14) Telle est leur voie, leur folie, Et ceux qui les suivent se plaisent à leurs discours. -Pause.

14 (49:15) Comme un troupeau, ils sont mis dans le séjour des morts, La mort en fait sa pâture; Et bientôt les hommes droits les foulent aux pieds, Leur beauté s'évanouit, le séjour des morts est leur demeure.

15 (49:16) Mais Dieu sauvera mon âme du séjour des morts, Car il me prendra sous sa protection. -Pause.

16 (49:17) Ne sois pas dans la crainte parce qu'un homme s'enrichit, Parce que les trésors de sa maison se multiplient;

17 (49:18) Car il n'emporte rien en mourant, Ses trésors ne descendent point après lui.

18 (49:19) Il aura beau s'estimer heureux pendant sa vie, On aura beau te louer des jouissances que tu te donnes, 19 (49:20) Tu iras néanmoins au séjour de tes pères, Qui jamais ne reverront la lumière. 20 (49:21) L'homme qui est en honneur, et qui n'a pas d'intelligence, Est semblable aux bêtes que l'on égorge.
