3 Ny karavasy ho amin'ny soavaly ny lamboridy ho amin'ny boriky, Ary ny tsorakazo kosa ho amin'ny lamosin'ny adala.

4 Aza mamaly ny adala araka ny hadalany, Fandrao mba adala tahaka azy koa ianao.

5 Valio ny adala araka ny hadalany, Fandrao dia manao azy ho hendry izy

6 Manapaka ny tongony sady misotro loza Izay mampitondra teny ny adala.

7 Mikepikepika ny tongotry ny malemy tongotra, Dia toy izany ny ohabolana eo am-bavan'ny adala.

8 Toy ny manisy vato eo amin'ny antsamotady, Dia toy izany ny manome voninahitra ny adala.

12 Hitanao va ny olona manao azy ho hendry? Ny adala misy hantenaina kokoa noho izy.

13 Hoy ny malaina: Misy liona any an-dalana, Misy liona atsy an-dalambe.

14 Toy ny varavarana mihodina amin'ny saviliny, Dia toy izany ny kamo eo amin'ny fandriany,

15 Ny malaina mangarona ny eo an-doviany, Nefa ny hampakatra azy ho amin'ny vavany dia mahasasatra azy.

16 Ny kamo manao ny tenany ho hendry mihoatra noho ny olona fito izay mahavaly tsara.

17 Izay mandalo ka mitsaraingona amin'ny ady tsy azy Dia mandroritra amboa amin'ny sofiny.

18 Toy ny adala izay manely afo sy zana-tsipìka ary fahafatesana,

19 Dia toy izany ny olona mamitaka ny namany ka manao hoe: Tsy vosobosotra ihany va no ataoko?

20 Raha tsy misy kitay intsony, dia maty ny afo; Ary raha tsy misy mpifosafosa intsony, dia mitsahatra ny fifandirana.

21 Toy ny arina atao amin'ny vainafo sy ny kitay hazo atao amin'ny afo, Dia toy izany, ny olona tia ady mandrehitra fifandirana.

22 Ny tenin'ny mpifosafosa dia toy ny hanim-py ka mikorotsaka ao anaty kibo indrindra.

23 Tavim-bilany misy ankosotra taim-bolafotsy ny molotra mihatsaravelatsihy* sy ny fo ratsy.[Heb. mirehitra]

24 Ny mpandrafy dia mody ho hafa amin'ny molony Sady manafim-pitaka ao am-pony;

25 Koa na dia miteny soa aza izy, aza mino azy; Fa fahavetavetana fito no ao am-pony.

26 Ny lolompo dia miafina ao amin'ny fitaka; Nefa ny haratsiany dia haharihary eo am-pahibemaso.

27 Izay mihady lavaka no ho latsaka ao, Ary izay manakodiadia vato no hikodiavany kosa.

28 Halan'ny lela mandainga izay efa nampahoriny, Ary ny vava mandrobo dia mampidi-doza.

26:1 Like snow in summer, and as rain in harvest,
so honor is not fitting for a fool.
26:2 Like a fluttering sparrow,
like a darting swallow,
so the undeserved curse doesn’t come to rest.
26:3 A whip is for the horse,
a bridle for the donkey,
and a rod for the back of fools!
26:4 Don’t answer a fool according to his folly,
lest you also be like him.
26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
lest he be wise in his own eyes.
26:6 One who sends a message by the hand of a fool
is cutting off feet and drinking violence.
26:7 Like the legs of the lame that hang loose:
so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
26:8 As one who binds a stone in a sling,
so is he who gives honor to a fool.
26:9 Like a thornbush that goes into the hand of a drunkard,
so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
26:10 As an archer who wounds all,
so is he who hires a fool
or he who hires those who pass by.
26:11 As a dog that returns to his vomit,
so is a fool who repeats his folly.
26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
26:13 The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road!
A fierce lion roams the streets!”
26:14 As the door turns on its hinges,
so does the sluggard on his bed.
26:15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish.
He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
26:16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
than seven men who answer with discretion.
26:17 Like one who grabs a dog’s ears
is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own.
26:18 Like a madman who shoots torches, arrows, and death,
26:19 is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “Am I not joking?”
26:20 For lack of wood a fire goes out.
Without gossip, a quarrel dies down.
26:21 As coals are to hot embers,
and wood to fire,
so is a contentious man to kindling strife.
26:22 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels,
they go down into the innermost parts.
26:23 Like silver dross on an earthen vessel
are the lips of a fervent one with an evil heart.
26:24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips,
but he harbors evil in his heart.
26:25 When his speech is charming, don’t believe him;
for there are seven abominations in his heart.
26:26 His malice may be concealed by deception,
but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
26:27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it.
Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.
26:28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts;
and a flattering mouth works ruin.

1 Comme la neige en été, et la pluie pendant la moisson, Ainsi la gloire ne convient pas à un insensé. 2 Comme l'oiseau s'échappe, comme l'hirondelle s'envole, Ainsi la malédiction sans cause n'a point d'effet. 3 Le fouet est pour le cheval, le mors pour l'âne, Et la verge pour le dos des insensés. 4 Ne réponds pas à l'insensé selon sa folie, De peur que tu ne lui ressembles toi-même. 5 Réponds à l'insensé selon sa folie, Afin qu'il ne se regarde pas comme sage. 6 Il se coupe les pieds, il boit l'injustice, Celui qui donne des messages à un insensé. 7 Comme les jambes du boiteux sont faibles, Ainsi est une sentence dans la bouche des insensés. 8 C'est attacher une pierre à la fronde, Que d'accorder des honneurs à un insensé. 9 Comme une épine qui se dresse dans la main d'un homme ivre, Ainsi est une sentence dans la bouche des insensés. 10 Comme un archer qui blesse tout le monde, Ainsi est celui qui prend à gage les insensés et les premiers venus. 11 Comme un chien qui retourne à ce qu'il a vomi, Ainsi est un insensé qui revient à sa folie. 12 Si tu vois un homme qui se croit sage, Il y a plus à espérer d'un insensé que de lui. 13 Le paresseux dit: Il y a un lion sur le chemin, Il y a un lion dans les rues! 14 La porte tourne sur ses gonds, Et le paresseux sur son lit. 15 Le paresseux plonge sa main dans le plat, Et il trouve pénible de la ramener à sa bouche. 16 Le paresseux se croit plus sage Que sept hommes qui répondent avec bon sens. 17 Comme celui qui saisit un chien par les oreilles, Ainsi est un passant qui s'irrite pour une querelle où il n'a que faire. 18 Comme un furieux qui lance des flammes, Des flèches et la mort, 19 Ainsi est un homme qui trompe son prochain, Et qui dit: N'était-ce pas pour plaisanter? 20 Faute de bois, le feu s'éteint; Et quand il n'y a point de rapporteur, la querelle s'apaise. 21 Le charbon produit un brasier, et le bois du feu; Ainsi un homme querelleur échauffe une dispute. 22 Les paroles du rapporteur sont comme des friandises, Elles descendent jusqu'au fond des entrailles. 23 Comme des scories d'argent appliquées sur un vase de terre, Ainsi sont des lèvres brûlantes et un coeur mauvais. 24 Par ses lèvres celui qui hait se déguise, Et il met au dedans de lui la tromperie. 25 Lorsqu'il prend une voix douce, ne le crois pas, Car il y a sept abominations dans son coeur. 26 S'il cache sa haine sous la dissimulation, Sa méchanceté se révélera dans l'assemblée. 27 Celui qui creuse une fosse y tombe, Et la pierre revient sur celui qui la roule. 28 La langue fausse hait ceux qu'elle écrase, Et la bouche flatteuse prépare la ruine.
