12 Raha hoy ianao: Tsia, tsy mahalala izany* izahay, Moa Izay mandanja ny fo tsy hihevitra izany va? Ary Izay mandinika ny fanahinao tsy hahalala izany va? Eny, hovaliany araka ny ataony avy ny olona rehetra.[Na: io]

18 Fandrao hitan'i Jehovah izany ka ataony ho ratsy, Ary ampialainy aminy ny fahatezerany.

19 Aoka tsy hirehitra ny fahatezeranao noho ny amin'ny mpanao ratsy, Ary aza mialona ny ratsy fanahy;

20 Fa tsy hisy fanantenana* ho an'ny ratsy; Eny, ho faty ny jiron'ny ratsy fanahy.[Heb. farany]

21 Anaka, matahora an'i Jehovah sy ny mpanjaka; Ary aza mikambana amin'izay miovaova*;[Na: hafa saina noho izany]

22 Fa ho tampoka no hitrangan'izay hanjo ireny; Ary iza no mahalala izay loza hiseho amin'ny androny*? [Heb. taonany]

23 Izao koa no tenin'ny hendry: Tsy mety raha mizaha tavan'olona amin'ny fitsarana.

24 Izay manao amin'ny meloka hoe: Marina ianao, Dia hozonin'ny olona sady ho halan'ny firenena;

25 Fa izay mitsara marina kosa no hahita soa sy hahazo fitahiana tsara.

26 Izay mahavoa tsara amin'ny famaliana dia manoroka ny molotra.

27 Amboary ny asanao any ivelany, Ary ataovy lavorary ny any an-tsaha; Ka rehefa vita izany, dia mahazo manao ny tranonao ianao.

28 Aza mety ho vavolombelona foana hanameloka ny namanao; Moa hamitaka amin'ny molotrao va ianao?

29 Aza manao hoe: Araka izay nataony tamiko no mba hataoko aminy kosa, Hovaliako ny olona araka izay nataony.

30 Nandalo ny sahan'ny kamo Sy ny tanim-boaloboky ny tsy ampy saina aho;

31 Ary, indro, feno sampivato izy Sady voasaron'ny amiana, Ary nirodana ny ampiantany vatony.

32 Dia nojereko ka noheveriko tsara, Eny, hitako ka nahazoako anatra.

33 Mbola hatory kely ihany, mbola ho renoka kely ihany. Mbola hanohon-tanana kely hatory;

34 Dia ho tonga toy ny mimaona hamely ny alahelonao, Ary ny fahantranao ho toy ny jiolahy.

Chapitre  24
24:1 Don’t be envious of evil men;
neither desire to be with them:
24:2 for their hearts plot violence,
and their lips talk about mischief.
24:3 Through wisdom a house is built;
by understanding it is established;
24:4 by knowledge the rooms are filled
with all rare and beautiful treasure.
24:5 A wise man has great power;
and a knowledgeable man increases strength;
24:6 for by wise guidance you wage your war;
and victory is in many advisors.
24:7 Wisdom is too high for a fool:
he doesn’t open his mouth in the gate.
24:8 One who plots to do evil
will be called a schemer.
24:9 The schemes of folly are sin.
The mocker is detested by men.
24:10 If you falter in the time of trouble,
your strength is small.
24:11 Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
24:12 If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this”;
doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it?
Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
24:13 My son, eat honey, for it is good;
the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:
24:14 so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul;
if you have found it, then there will be a reward,
your hope will not be cut off.
24:15 Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous.
Don’t destroy his resting place:
24:16 for a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again;
but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
24:17 Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls.
Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;
24:18 lest Yahweh see it, and it displease him,
and he turn away his wrath from him.
24:19 Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers;
neither be envious of the wicked:
24:20 for there will be no reward to the evil man;
and the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
24:21 My son, fear Yahweh and the king.
Don’t join those who are rebellious:
24:22 for their calamity will rise suddenly;
the destruction from them both—who knows?
24:23 These also are sayings of the wise.

To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24:24 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous”;
peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him—
24:25 but it will go well with those who convict the guilty,
and a rich blessing will come on them.
24:26 An honest answer
is like a kiss on the lips.
24:27 Prepare your work outside,
and get your fields ready.
Afterwards, build your house.
24:28 Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause.
Don’t deceive with your lips.
24:29 Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me;
I will render to the man according to his work.”
24:30 I went by the field of the sluggard,
by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
24:31 Behold, it was all grown over with thorns.
Its surface was covered with nettles,
and its stone wall was broken down.
24:32 Then I saw, and considered well.
I saw, and received instruction:
24:33 a little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to sleep;
24:34 so your poverty will come as a robber,
and your want as an armed man.

1 Ne porte pas envie aux hommes méchants, Et ne désire pas être avec eux; 2 Car leur coeur médite la ruine, Et leurs lèvres parlent d'iniquité. 3 C'est par la sagesse qu'une maison s'élève, Et par l'intelligence qu'elle s'affermit; 4 C'est par la science que les chambres se remplissent De tous les biens précieux et agréables. 5 Un homme sage est plein de force, Et celui qui a de la science affermit sa vigueur; 6 Car tu feras la guerre avec prudence, Et le salut est dans le grand nombre des conseillers. 7 La sagesse est trop élevée pour l'insensé; Il n'ouvrira pas la bouche à la porte. 8 Celui qui médite de faire le mal S'appelle un homme plein de malice. 9 La pensée de la folie n'est que péché, Et le moqueur est en abomination parmi les hommes. 10 Si tu faiblis au jour de la détresse, Ta force n'est que détresse. 11 Délivre ceux qu'on traîne à la mort, Ceux qu'on va égorger, sauve-les! 12 Si tu dis: Ah! nous ne savions pas!... Celui qui pèse les coeurs ne le voit-il pas? Celui qui veille sur ton âme ne le connaît-il pas? Et ne rendra-t-il pas à chacun selon ses oeuvres? 13 Mon fils, mange du miel, car il est bon; Un rayon de miel sera doux à ton palais. 14 De même, connais la sagesse pour ton âme; Si tu la trouves, il est un avenir, Et ton espérance ne sera pas anéantie. 15 Ne tends pas méchamment des embûches à la demeure du juste, Et ne dévaste pas le lieu où il repose; 16 Car sept fois le juste tombe, et il se relève, Mais les méchants sont précipités dans le malheur. 17 Ne te réjouis pas de la chute de ton ennemi, Et que ton coeur ne soit pas dans l'allégresse quand il chancelle, 18 De peur que l'Éternel ne le voie, que cela ne lui déplaise, Et qu'il ne détourne de lui sa colère. 19 Ne t'irrite pas à cause de ceux qui font le mal, Ne porte pas envie aux méchants; 20 Car il n'y a point d'avenir pour celui qui fait le mal, La lampe des méchants s'éteint. 21 Mon fils, crains l'Éternel et le roi; Ne te mêle pas avec les hommes remuants; 22 Car soudain leur ruine surgira, Et qui connaît les châtiments des uns et des autres? 23 Voici encore ce qui vient des sages: Il n'est pas bon, dans les jugements, d'avoir égard aux personnes. 24 Celui qui dit au méchant: Tu es juste! Les peuples le maudissent, les nations le maudissent. 25 Mais ceux qui le châtient s'en trouvent bien, Et le bonheur vient sur eux comme une bénédiction. 26 Il baise les lèvres, Celui qui répond des paroles justes. 27 Soigne tes affaires au dehors, Mets ton champ en état, Puis tu bâtiras ta maison. 28 Ne témoigne pas à la légère contre ton prochain; Voudrais-tu tromper par tes lèvres? 29 Ne dis pas: Je lui ferai comme il m'a fait, Je rendrai à chacun selon ses oeuvres. 30 J'ai passé près du champ d'un paresseux, Et près de la vigne d'un homme dépourvu de sens. 31 Et voici, les épines y croissaient partout, Les ronces en couvraient la face, Et le mur de pierres était écroulé. 32 J'ai regardé attentivement, Et j'ai tiré instruction de ce que j'ai vu. 33 Un peu de sommeil, un peu d'assoupissement, Un peu croiser les mains pour dormir!... 34 Et la pauvreté te surprendra, comme un rôdeur, Et la disette, comme un homme en armes.
