29 Ny lozabe mitaona ny namany Ka mitarika azy amin'ny lalana tsy tsara.

30 Izay manakimpy ny masony hieritreritra ny ratsy Sady manaikitraiki-molotra dia efa mikasa hanao ratsy.

31 Satroboninahitra tsara tarehy ny volofotsy, Ao amin'ny lalan'ny fahamarinana no ahazoana azy.

32 Tsara ny mahatsindry fo noho ny mahery, Ary izay mahazaka ny fanahiny noho izay mahafa-bohitra.

33 Ny filokana dia atsipy ao am-pofoany; Fa avy amin'i Jehovah ihany no isehoan'ny fitsarany.

Chapitre  16
16:1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
but the answer of the tongue is from Yahweh.
16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;
but Yahweh weighs the motives.
16:3 Commit your deeds to Yahweh,
and your plans shall succeed.
16:4 Yahweh has made everything for its own end—
yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
16:5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh:
they shall certainly not be unpunished.
16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for.
By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.
16:7 When a man’s ways please Yahweh,
he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
16:8 Better is a little with righteousness,
than great revenues with injustice.
16:9 A man’s heart plans his course,
but Yahweh directs his steps.
16:10 Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king.
He shall not betray his mouth.
16:11 Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s;
all the weights in the bag are his work.
16:12 It is an abomination for kings to do wrong,
for the throne is established by righteousness.
16:13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings.
They value one who speaks the truth.
16:14 The king’s wrath is a messenger of death,
but a wise man will pacify it.
16:15 In the light of the king’s face is life.
His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16:16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
16:17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil.
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
16:18 Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.
16:19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor,
than to divide the plunder with the proud.
16:20 He who heeds the Word finds prosperity.
Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.
16:21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent.
Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
16:22 Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it,
but the punishment of fools is their folly.
16:23 The heart of the wise instructs his mouth,
and adds learning to his lips.
16:24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
16:25 There is a way which seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.
16:26 The appetite of the laboring man labors for him;
for his mouth urges him on.
16:27 A worthless man devises mischief.
His speech is like a scorching fire.
16:28 A perverse man stirs up strife.
A whisperer separates close friends.
16:29 A man of violence entices his neighbor,
and leads him in a way that is not good.
16:30 One who winks his eyes to plot perversities,
one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
16:31 Gray hair is a crown of glory.
It is attained by a life of righteousness.
16:32 One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
16:33 The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from Yahweh.

1 Les projets que forme le coeur dépendent de l'homme, Mais la réponse que donne la bouche vient de l'Éternel. 2 Toutes les voies de l'homme sont pures à ses yeux; Mais celui qui pèse les esprits, c'est l'Éternel. 3 Recommande à l'Éternel tes oeuvres, Et tes projets réussiront. 4 L'Éternel a tout fait pour un but, Même le méchant pour le jour du malheur. 5 Tout coeur hautain est en abomination à l'Éternel; Certes, il ne restera pas impuni. 6 Par la bonté et la fidélité on expie l'iniquité, Et par la crainte de l'Éternel on se détourne du mal. 7 Quand l'Éternel approuve les voies d'un homme, Il dispose favorablement à son égard même ses ennemis. 8 Mieux vaut peu, avec la justice, Que de grands revenus, avec l'injustice. 9 Le coeur de l'homme médite sa voie, Mais c'est l'Éternel qui dirige ses pas. 10 Des oracles sont sur les lèvres du roi: Sa bouche ne doit pas être infidèle quand il juge. 11 Le poids et la balance justes sont à l'Éternel; Tous les poids du sac sont son ouvrage. 12 Les rois ont horreur de faire le mal, Car c'est par la justice que le trône s'affermit. 13 Les lèvres justes gagnent la faveur des rois, Et ils aiment celui qui parle avec droiture. 14 La fureur du roi est un messager de mort, Et un homme sage doit l'apaiser. 15 La sérénité du visage du roi donne la vie, Et sa faveur est comme une pluie du printemps. 16 Combien acquérir la sagesse vaut mieux que l'or! Combien acquérir l'intelligence est préférable à l'argent! 17 Le chemin des hommes droits, c'est d'éviter le mal; Celui qui garde son âme veille sur sa voie. 18 L'arrogance précède la ruine, Et l'orgueil précède la chute. 19 Mieux vaut être humble avec les humbles Que de partager le butin avec les orgueilleux. 20 Celui qui réfléchit sur les choses trouve le bonheur, Et celui qui se confie en l'Éternel est heureux. 21 Celui qui est sage de coeur est appelé intelligent, Et la douceur des lèvres augmente le savoir. 22 La sagesse est une source de vie pour celui qui la possède; Et le châtiment des insensés, c'est leur folie. 23 Celui qui est sage de coeur manifeste la sagesse par sa bouche, Et l'accroissement de son savoir paraît sur ses lèvres. 24 Les paroles agréables sont un rayon de miel, Douces pour l'âme et salutaires pour le corps. 25 Telle voie paraît droite à un homme, Mais son issue, c'est la voie de la mort. 26 Celui qui travaille, travaille pour lui, Car sa bouche l'y excite. 27 L'homme pervers prépare le malheur, Et il y a sur ses lèvres comme un feu ardent. 28 L'homme pervers excite des querelles, Et le rapporteur divise les amis. 29 L'homme violent séduit son prochain, Et le fait marcher dans une voie qui n'est pas bonne. 30 Celui qui ferme les yeux pour se livrer à des pensées perverses, Celui qui se mord les lèvres, a déjà consommé le mal. 31 Les cheveux blancs sont une couronne d'honneur; C'est dans le chemin de la justice qu'on la trouve. 32 Celui qui est lent à la colère vaut mieux qu'un héros, Et celui qui est maître de lui-même, que celui qui prend des villes. 33 On jette le sort dans le pan de la robe, Mais toute décision vient de l'Éternel.
