Chapitre 10

1 Ny fatin-dalitra mahamaimbo sy mampamorivory ny menaky ny mpangaroharo zava-manitra; ary toy izany, ny fahadalana kely dia mavesatra noho ny fahendrena sy ny voninahitra.

2 Ny fon'ny hendry dia eo ankavanany; fa ny fon'ny adala kosa dia eo ankaviany.

3 Ary koa, raha mandeha eny an-dalambe ny adala, dia levona ny fahalalany, ka milaza tena amin'ny olona rehetra izy fa adala.

4 Raha tezeran'ny mpanapaka ianao, aza miala amin'ny fitoeranao; fa ny fahatsindriam-po mahasakana ny fahadisoana lehibe.

5 Misy ratsy efa hitako atỳ ambanin'ny masoandro, ka toa fahadisoana ataon'ny mpanapaka izany;

6 Asandratra ho ambony indrindra ny adala, ary ny mpanankarena mipetraka eo amin'ny toerana ambany.

7 Efa hitako ny mpanompo mitaingin-tsoavaly, ary ny mpanapaka kosa mandeha an-tongotra toy ny mpanompo.

8 Izay mihady lavaka no ho latsaka ao, ary izay mandrava fefy vato no hokekerin'ny menarana.

9 Izay manovoka vato dia haratrany, ary izay mamaky hazo no ho voany.

10 Raha dombo ny antsy ka tsy asainy, dia tsy maintsy manao an-teninaina izy; fa ny fahendrena no mahasoa, satria mahalavorary ny raharaha izany.

11 Raha manaikitra ny menarana, satria tsy mbola nasiana ody, dia ahoana no mahatsara ny mpanao ody?

12 Soa ny teny aloaky ny vavan'ny hendry; fa ny molotry ny adala kosa mitelina ny tenany.

13 Ny fiandohan'ny teny aloaky ny vavany dia fahadalana, ary ny fiafaran'ny teniny dia fahaverezan-tsaina mampidi-doza.

14 Maro teny ny adala nefa tsy misy olona mahalala izay ho avy; ary iza no mahalaza aminy ny ho avy any aoriany?

15 Ny fisasaran'ny adala mahareraka azy, fa ny lalana mankany an-tanàna aza tsy fantany akory.

16 Lozanao, ry tany, raha zaza no mpanjakanao, ary ny lehibenao homa-maraina!

17 Sambatra kosa ianao, ry tany, raha tena karazan'andriana no mpanjakanao, ary ny lehibenao homana amin'izay fotoana mety, mba hampahatanjaka ny tenany, fa tsy ny hampahamamo azy!

18 Ny fahalainana be no mampianjera ny lohatrano, ary ny hakamoan'ny tanana no mampitete ny trano.

19 Ataony laolao ny hanina, ary ny divay no maharavoravo ny aina, ary ny vola no hahazoana ny zavatra rehetra.

20 Aza manozona ny mpanjaka na dia amin'ny eritreritrao aza; ary aza manozona ny mpanankarena na dia ao anatin'ny efi-trano fandrianao aza; fa na dia ny voro-manidina aza anie ka hitondra ny feo, ary na dia ny manana elatra dia hanambara ny teny.

Chapitre 10

10:1 Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor; so does a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor. 10:2 A wise man’s heart is at his right hand, but a fool’s heart at his left. 10:3 Yes also, when the fool walks by the way, his understanding fails him, and he says to everyone that he is a fool. 10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, don’t leave your place; for gentleness lays great offenses to rest.

10:5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, the sort of error which proceeds from the ruler. 10:6 Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in a low place. 10:7 I have seen servants on horses, and princes walking like servants on the earth. 10:8 He who digs a pit may fall into it; and whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. 10:9 Whoever carves out stones may be injured by them. Whoever splits wood may be endangered thereby. 10:10 If the axe is blunt, and one doesn’t sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.

10:11 If the snake bites before it is charmed, then is there no profit for the charmer’s tongue. 10:12 The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips. 10:13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. 10:14 A fool also multiplies words.

Man doesn’t know what will be; and that which will be after him, who can tell him? 10:15 The labor of fools wearies every one of them; for he doesn’t know how to go to the city.

10:16 Woe to you, land, when your king is a child,
and your princes eat in the morning! 10:17 Happy are you, land, when your king is the son of nobles,
and your princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!
10:18 By slothfulness the roof sinks in;
and through idleness of the hands the house leaks.
10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes the life glad; and money is the answer for all things.
10:20 Don’t curse the king, no, not in your thoughts;
and don’t curse the rich in your bedroom:
for a bird of the sky may carry your voice,
and that which has wings may tell the matter.

Chapitre 10
1 Les mouches mortes infectent et font fermenter l'huile du parfumeur; un peu de folie l'emporte sur la sagesse et sur la gloire.

2 Le coeur du sage est à sa droite, et le coeur de l'insensé à sa gauche. 3 Quand l'insensé marche dans un chemin, le sens lui manque, et il dit de chacun: Voilà un fou!

4 Si l'esprit de celui qui domine s'élève contre toi, ne quitte point ta place; car le calme prévient de grands péchés.

5 Il est un mal que j'ai vu sous le soleil, comme une erreur provenant de celui qui gouverne:

6 la folie occupe des postes très élevés, et des riches sont assis dans l'abaissement.

7 J'ai vu des esclaves sur des chevaux, et des princes marchant sur terre comme des esclaves.

8 Celui qui creuse une fosse y tombera, et celui qui renverse une muraille sera mordu par un serpent.

9 Celui qui remue des pierres en sera blessé, et celui qui fend du bois en éprouvera du danger.

10 S'il a émoussé le fer, et s'il n'en a pas aiguisé le tranchant, il devra redoubler de force; mais la sagesse a l'avantage du succès.

11 Si le serpent mord faute d'enchantement, il n'y a point d'avantage pour l'enchanteur.

12 Les paroles de la bouche du sage sont pleines de grâce; mais les lèvres de l'insensé causent sa perte.

13 Le commencement des paroles de sa bouche est folie, et la fin de son discours est une méchante folie.

14 L'insensé multiplie les paroles. L'homme ne sait point ce qui arrivera, et qui lui dira ce qui sera après lui?

15 Le travail de l'insensé le fatigue, parce qu'il ne sait pas aller à la ville.

16 Malheur à toi, pays dont le roi est un enfant, et dont les princes mangent dès le matin! 17 Heureux toi, pays dont le roi est de race illustre, et dont les princes mangent au temps convenable, pour soutenir leurs forces, et non pour se livrer à la boisson!

18 Quand les mains sont paresseuses, la charpente s'affaisse; et quand les mains sont lâches, la maison a des gouttières.

19 On fait des repas pour se divertir, le vin rend la vie joyeuse, et l'argent répond à tout.

20 Ne maudis pas le roi, même dans ta pensée, et ne maudis pas le riche dans la chambre où tu couches; car l'oiseau du ciel emporterait ta voix, l'animal ailé publierait tes paroles.
