Chapitre 4

2 Mila ianareo, nefa tsy manana ihany; mamono sy mitsiriritra* ianareo, nefa tsy mahazo ihany; mifanditra sy miady ianareo; tsy manana ianareo, satria tsy mangataka. [*Na: mialona]

3 Mangataka ianareo, nefa tsy mahazo ihany, satria diso fangataka, mba holaninareo amin'ny filanareo.

4 Ry mpisintaka mijangajanga, tsy fantatrareo va fa fandrafiana an'Andriamanitra ny fisakaizana amin'izao tontolo izao? Koa na iza na iza te-ho sakaizan'izao tontolo izao, dia fahavalon'Andriamanitra izy.

5 Ary ataonareo va fa miteny foana ny Soratra Masina*? Ny fanahy, izay nampitoeriny ato anatintsika** dia iriny amin'ny fahasaro-piaro***. 6 Nefa manome fahasoavana bebe kokoa Izy. Koa hoy izy: "Andriamanitra manohitra ny mpiavonavona, fa manome fahasoavana ho an'ny manetry tena" (Oha. 3.34].

7 Ka dia maneke an Andriamanitra ianareo; ary manohera ny devoly, dia handositra anareo izy.

8 Manatòna an'Andriamanitra, dia hanatona anareo Izy. Diovy ny tananareo, ry mpanota; ary ataovy madio ny fonareo, ry mpiroa saina.

9 Oria, sy mitomania, ary midradradradrà; aoka hody fitomaniana ny fihomehezanareo, ary hody fanjoretana ny fifalianareo.

10 Manetre tena eo anatrehan'ny Tompo, dia hanandratra anareo Izy.

11 Aza mifanaratsy, ry rahalahy. Izay manaratsy rahalahy na mitsara ny rahalahiny dia manaratsy ny lalàna sy mitsara ny lalàna; fa raha mitsara ny lalàna ianao, dia tsy mpankatò ny lalàna, fa mpitsara.

12 Iray ihany no Mpanome lalàna sy Mpitsara, dia Ilay mahavonjy sy mahavery; fa iza moa ianao, no mitsara ny namanao?

13 He! ianareo izay manao hoe: Anio na ampitso dia hankany Ananona izahay ary hitoetra any herintaona ka hividy sy hivarotra ary hahazo tombom-barotra,

14 kanefa tsy mahalala ny ho ampitso ianareo. Inona moa ny ainareo? Fa zavona ihany ianareo, izay miseho vetivety, dia levona.

15 Fa aleo manao izao: Raha sitrapon'ny Tompo, ka velona izahay, dia hataonay izao na izany.

16 Fa izao dia mirehareha amin'ny fahasahianareo ianareo; ratsy ny fireharehana rehetra toy izany.

17 Koa izay mahalala hanao soa, nefa tsy manao, dia heloka ho azy izany.

Chapitre 4

4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don’t have. You kill, covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask. 4:3 You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”? 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”* 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

4:11 Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

4:13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.” 4:14 Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. 4:15 For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.” 4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil. 4:17 To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.

Chapitre 4
1 D'où viennent les luttes, et d'où viennent les querelles parmi vous? N'est-ce pas de vos passions qui combattent dans vos membres? 2 Vous convoitez, et vous ne possédez pas; vous êtes meurtriers et envieux, et vous ne pouvez pas obtenir; vous avez des querelles et des luttes, et vous ne possédez pas, parce que vous ne demandez pas. 3 Vous demandez, et vous ne recevez pas, parce que vous demandez mal, dans le but de satisfaire vos passions. 4 Adultères que vous êtes! ne savez-vous pas que l'amour du monde est inimitié contre Dieu? Celui donc qui veut être ami du monde se rend ennemi de Dieu. 5 Croyez-vous que l'Écriture parle en vain? C'est avec jalousie que Dieu chérit l'esprit qu'il a fait habiter en nous. 6 Il accorde, au contraire, une grâce plus excellente; c'est pourquoi l'Écriture dit: Dieu résiste aux orgueilleux, Mais il fait grâce aux humbles. 7 Soumettez-vous donc à Dieu; résistez au diable, et il fuira loin de vous. 8 Approchez-vous de Dieu, et il s'approchera de vous. Nettoyez vos mains, pécheurs; purifiez vos coeurs, hommes irrésolus. 9 Sentez votre misère; soyez dans le deuil et dans les larmes; que votre rire se change en deuil, et votre joie en tristesse. 10 Humiliez-vous devant le Seigneur, et il vous élèvera. 11 Ne parlez point mal les uns des autres, frères. Celui qui parle mal d'un frère, ou qui juge son frère, parle mal de la loi et juge la loi. Or, si tu juges la loi, tu n'es pas observateur de la loi, mais tu en es juge. 12 Un seul est législateur et juge, c'est celui qui peut sauver et perdre; mais toi, qui es-tu, qui juges le prochain? 13 A vous maintenant, qui dites: Aujourd'hui ou demain nous irons dans telle ville, nous y passerons une année, nous trafiquerons, et nous gagnerons! 14 Vous qui ne savez pas ce qui arrivera demain! car, qu'est-ce que votre vie? Vous êtes une vapeur qui paraît pour un peu de temps, et qui ensuite disparaît. 15 Vous devriez dire, au contraire: Si Dieu le veut, nous vivrons, et nous ferons ceci ou cela. 16 Mais maintenant vous vous glorifiez dans vos pensées orgueilleuses. C'est chose mauvaise que de se glorifier de la sorte. 17 Celui donc qui sait faire ce qui est bien, et qui ne le fait pas, commet un péché.
