3 koa mijery ilay miakanjo tsara ianareo ka manao hoe: Mipetraha eto amin'ny fitoerana aloha ianao; ary manao amin'ilay malahelo kosa hoe: Mitoera eroa ianao, na: Mipetraha etsy amin'ny fitoeran-tongotro,-

4 moa tsy miangatra* va ianareo amin'izany ka efa mpitsara manan-kevi-dratsy? [* Na: miahanahana]

5 Mihainoa, ry rahalahy malalako: Tsy efa nofidin'Andriamanitra va ny malahelo amin'izao fiainana izao ho mpanankarena amin'ny finoana sy ho mpandova ny fanjakana nolazainy homena izay tia Azy?

6 Fa ianareo efa nanala-baraka ny malahelo. Moa tsy ny mpanankarena va no mampahory anareo? Ary tsy izy va no mitarika anareo ho eo amin'ny fitsarana?

7 Tsy izy koa va no miteny ratsy* ny anarana tsara izay niantsoana anareo? [* Gr. manao blasfemia; izahao Mat.9.3]

8 Kanefa raha mankatò ilay didy ambony indrindra* ianareo, araka ny Soratra Masina hoe: "Tiava ny namanao tahaka ny tenanao" (Lev. 29.18), dia manao tsara ianareo. [* Gr. andriana]

9 Fa raha mizaha tavan'olona kosa ianareo, dia manota ka helohin'ny lalàna ho mpanota.

10 Fa na iza na iza mitandrina ny lalàna rehetra, nefa diso amin'ny iray loha dia meloka amin'izy rehetra.

11 Fa Ilay nanao hoe: "Aza mijangajanga" no nanao hoe koa: "Aza mamono olona" (Eks. 20.13, 14). Fa raha tahìny tsy mijangajanga ianao, kanefa mamono olona ihany, dia mpandika ny lalàna ianao.

12 Aoka ianareo hiteny sy hanao araka izay mahamendrika anareo, izay olona hotsarain'ny lalàn'ny fahafahana.

13 Fa fitsarana tsy misy famindram-po no ho anjaran'izay tsy mamindra fo; ary ny famindram-po kosa dia faly, fa tsy mba matahotra ny fitsarana.

14 [Ny fahafoanan'ny finoana tsy misy asa] Inona moa no soa azo, ry rahalahiko, raha misy milaza fa manam-pinoana izy, nefa tsy manana asa? Ny finoana va mahavonjy azy?

15 Raha misy rahalahy na anabavy tsy manan-kitafy sady tsy manan-kohanina isan'andro,

16 ka misy aminareo manao aminy hoe: Mandehana amin'ny fiadanana, mamindroa, mivokisa, kanefa tsy omenareo azy tsinona izay tandrifiny ho an'ny tenany, inona moa no soa azo amin'izany?

17 Ary mba toy izany koa ny finoana, raha tsy misy asa, dia maty mihitsy.

18 Fa angamba hisy hanao hoe: Hianao manam-pinoana, ary izaho manana asa; asehoy amiko tsy amin'ny asa ny finoanao, ary izaho kosa haneho aminao ny finoako amin'ny asako.

19 Hianao manao fa iray ihany no Andriamanitra; koa tsara izany ataonao izany,- ny demonia koa mba mino izany ka dia mangovitra.

20 Moa tsy fantatrao va, ry olom-poana, fa tsy vanona ny finoana tsy misy asa?

21 Tsy nohamarinina tamin'ny asa va Abrahama razantsika tamin'ny nanaterany an'isaka zanany teo ambonin'ny alitara?

22 Hitanao fa niara-niasa tamin'ny finoana ny asany, ary ny finoana dia notanterahina tamin'ny asa;

23 ary tanteraka ny Soratra Masina manao hoe: "Ary Abrahama nino an'Andriamanitra, ka nisaina ho fahamarinany izany" (Gen. 25.6), ary natao hoe "Sakaizan'Andriamanitra" izy (Isa. 41.8).

24 Koa dia hitanareo fa hamarinina amin'ny asa ny olona, fa tsy amin'ny finoana ihany.

25 Ary toy izany koa Rahaba janga, tsy nohamarinina tamin'ny asa va izy tamin'ny nandraisany ireny iraka ireny sy ny nampandehanany azy tamin'ny lalan-kafa?

26 Fa maty ny tena, raha tsy misy fanahy, ary maty toy izany koa ny finoana, raha tsy misy asa.

Chapitre 2

2:1 My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. 2:2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in; 2:3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, “Sit here in a good place”; and you tell the poor man, “Stand there,” or “Sit by my footstool”; 2:4 haven’t you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 2:5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him? 2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts? 2:7 Don’t they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,”* you do well. 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 2:11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,”* also said, “Do not commit murder.”* Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom. 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? 2:15 And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, 2:16 and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled”; and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? 2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. 2:18 Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. 2:20 But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? 2:21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 2:22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness”;* and he was called the friend of God. 2:24 You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. 2:25 In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

Chapitre 2
1 Mes frères, que votre foi en notre glorieux Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit exempte de toute acception de personnes. 2 Supposez, en effet, qu'il entre dans votre assemblée un homme avec un anneau d'or et un habit magnifique, et qu'il y entre aussi un pauvre misérablement vêtu; 3 si, tournant vos regards vers celui qui porte l'habit magnifique, vous lui dites: Toi, assieds-toi ici à cette place d'honneur! et si vous dites au pauvre: Toi, tiens-toi là debout! ou bien: Assieds-toi au-dessous de mon marchepied! 4 ne faites-vous pas en vous-mêmes une distinction, et ne jugez-vous pas sous l'inspiration de pensées mauvaises? 5 Écoutez, mes frères bien-aimés: Dieu n'a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres aux yeux du monde, pour qu'ils soient riches en la foi, et héritiers du royaume qu'il a promis à ceux qui l'aiment? 6 Et vous, vous avilissez le pauvre! Ne sont-ce pas les riches qui vous oppriment, et qui vous traînent devant les tribunaux? 7 Ne sont-ce pas eux qui outragent le beau nom que vous portez? 8 Si vous accomplissez la loi royale, selon l'Écriture: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même, vous faites bien. 9 Mais si vous faites acception de personnes, vous commettez un péché, vous êtes condamnés par la loi comme des transgresseurs. 10 Car quiconque observe toute la loi, mais pèche contre un seul commandement, devient coupable de tous. 11 En effet, celui qui a dit: Tu ne commettras point d'adultère, a dit aussi: Tu ne tueras point. Or, si tu ne commets point d'adultère, mais que tu commettes un meurtre, tu deviens transgresseur de la loi. 12 Parlez et agissez comme devant être jugés par une loi de liberté, 13 car le jugement est sans miséricorde pour qui n'a pas fait miséricorde. La miséricorde triomphe du jugement. 14 Mes frères, que sert-il à quelqu'un de dire qu'il a la foi, s'il n'a pas les oeuvres? La foi peut-elle le sauver? 15 Si un frère ou une soeur sont nus et manquent de la nourriture de chaque jour, 16 et que l'un d'entre vous leur dise: Allez en paix, chauffez-vous et vous rassasiez! et que vous ne leur donniez pas ce qui est nécessaire au corps, à quoi cela sert-il? 17 Il en est ainsi de la foi: si elle n'a pas les oeuvres, elle est morte en elle-même. 18 Mais quelqu'un dira: Toi, tu as la foi; et moi, j'ai les oeuvres. Montre-moi ta foi sans les oeuvres, et moi, je te montrerai la foi par mes oeuvres. 19 Tu crois qu'il y a un seul Dieu, tu fais bien; les démons le croient aussi, et ils tremblent. 20 Veux-tu savoir, ô homme vain, que la foi sans les oeuvres est inutile? 21 Abraham, notre père, ne fut-il pas justifié par les oeuvres, lorsqu'il offrit son fils Isaac sur l'autel? 22 Tu vois que la foi agissait avec ses oeuvres, et que par les oeuvres la foi fut rendue parfaite. 23 Ainsi s'accomplit ce que dit l'Écriture: Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice; et il fut appelé ami de Dieu. 24 Vous voyez que l'homme est justifié par les oeuvres, et non par la foi seulement. 25 Rahab la prostituée ne fut-elle pas également justifiée par les oeuvres, lorsqu'elle reçut les messagers et qu'elle les fit partir par un autre chemin? 26 Comme le corps sans âme est mort, de même la foi sans les oeuvres est morte.
