Aoka handeha hiverina any an-tranony izy, fandrao maty any amin'ny ady, ka olon-kafa no hampakatra ny vadiny. 8 Ary mbola hiteny amin'ny olona ihany ny mpifehy azy ka hanao hoe: Iza no olona izay matahotra ka osa fo? Aoka handeha hiverina any an-tranony izy, fandrao ho ketraka tahaka ny fony koa ny fon'ny rahalahiny. 9 Ary rehefa vitan'ny mpifehy vahoaka ny teny ataony amin'ny olona, dia hasiany mpifehy ny miaramila hitarika azy. 10 Raha mby akaikin'izay tanàna hiadiana ianao, dia milazà fihavanana aminy. 11 Ary raha fihavanana no avaliny anao, ka mampandroso anao izy, dia hampanaovinao fanompoana ny olona rehetra ao, ka hanompo anao izy. 12 Fa raha tsy mety manao fihavanana aminao kosa izy, fa te-hiady aminao, dia ataovy fahirano izy. 13 Ary rehefa atolotr'i Jehovah Andriamanitrao eo an-tananao izy, dia hovonoinao amin'ny lelan-tsabatra ny lehilahy rehetra ao. 14 Fa ny babo rehetra ao, dia ny zaza amim-behivavy sy ny biby fiompy ary izay rehetra ao an-tanàna, dia ho entinao ho anao; ary hohaninao ny babo azo tamin'ny fahavalonao, izay omen'i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao. 15 Toy izany no hataonao amin'ny tanàna rehetra izay lavitra anao indrindra ka tsy tanànan'ireto firenena ireto. 16 Fa ny tanànan'ireto firenena ireto kosa, izay omen'i Jehovah Andriamanitrao ho lovanao, dia aza asiana miangana izay olona rehetra ao. 17 Fa aringano tokoa ireo, dia ny Hetita sy ny Amorita sy ny Kananita sy ny Perizita sy ny Hivita ary ny Jebosita, araka izay nandidian'i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao, 18 mba tsy hampianarany anareo hanao araka ny fahavetavetany rehetra izay nataony tamin'ireo andriamaniny, ka tsy hanotanareo amin'i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo. 19 Raha hataonao fahirano ela ny tanàna izay tafihinao halaina, dia aza simbana kapaina amin'ny famaky ny hazo eo; fa hisy hohaninao amin'ireo, koa aza kapaina, fa olona va ny hazo any an-tsaha, no hataonao fahirano? 20 Kanefa ny hazo izay fantatrao fa tsy fihinam-boa dia kapao ihany, ka ataovy manda hamelezana ny tanàna izay miady aminao mandra-paharesiny.
| | Chapitre 20 20:1 When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, chariots, and a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 20:2 It shall be, when you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people, 20:3 and shall tell them, “Hear, Israel, you draw near this day to battle against your enemies: don’t let your heart faint; don’t be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them; 20:4 for Yahweh your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” 20:5 The officers shall speak to the people, saying, “What man is there who has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it. 20:6 What man is there who has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man use its fruit. 20:7 What man is there who has pledged to be married a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.” 20:8 The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, “What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother’s heart melt as his heart.” 20:9 It shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking to the people, that they shall appoint captains of armies at the head of the people. 20:10 When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it. 20:11 It shall be, if it makes you answer of peace, and opens to you, then it shall be, that all the people who are found therein shall become tributary to you, and shall serve you. 20:12 If it will make no peace with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it: 20:13 and when Yahweh your God delivers it into your hand, you shall strike every male of it with the edge of the sword: 20:14 but the women, and the little ones, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you shall take for a prey to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which Yahweh your God has given you. 20:15 Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. 20:16 But of the cities of these peoples, that Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes; 20:17 but you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; as Yahweh your God has commanded you; 20:18 that they not teach you to do after all their abominations, which they have done to their gods; so would you sin against Yahweh your God. 20:19 When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them; for you may eat of them, and you shall not cut them down; for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged of you? 20:20 Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down; and you shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it fall.

1 Lorsque tu iras à la guerre contre tes ennemis, et que tu verras des chevaux et des chars, et un peuple plus nombreux que toi, tu ne les craindras point; car l'Éternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a fait monter du pays d'Égypte, est avec toi. 2 A l'approche du combat, le sacrificateur s'avancera et parlera au peuple. 3 Il leur dira: Écoute, Israël! Vous allez aujourd'hui livrer bataille à vos ennemis. Que votre coeur ne se trouble point; soyez sans crainte, ne vous effrayez pas, ne vous épouvantez pas devant eux. 4 Car l'Éternel, votre Dieu, marche avec vous, pour combattre vos ennemis, pour vous sauver. 5 Les officiers parleront ensuite au peuple et diront: Qui est-ce qui a bâti une maison neuve, et ne s'y est point encore établi? Qu'il s'en aille et retourne chez lui, de peur qu'il ne meure dans la bataille et qu'un autre ne s'y établisse. 6 Qui est-ce qui a planté une vigne, et n'en a point encore joui? Qu'il s'en aille et retourne chez lui, de peur qu'il ne meure dans la bataille et qu'un autre n'en jouisse. 7 Qui est-ce qui a fiancé une femme, et ne l'a point encore prise? Qu'il s'en aille et retourne chez lui, de peur qu'il ne meure dans la bataille et qu'un autre ne la prenne. 8 Les officiers continueront à parler au peuple, et diront: Qui est-ce qui a peur et manque de courage? Qu'il s'en aille et retourne chez lui, afin que ses frères ne se découragent pas comme lui. 9 Quand les officiers auront achevé de parler au peuple, ils placeront les chefs des troupes à la tête du peuple. 10 Quand tu t'approcheras d'une ville pour l'attaquer, tu lui offriras la paix. 11 Si elle accepte la paix et t'ouvre ses portes, tout le peuple qui s'y trouvera te sera tributaire et asservi. 12 Si elle n'accepte pas la paix avec toi et qu'elle veuille te faire la guerre, alors tu l'assiégeras. 13 Et après que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, l'aura livrée entre tes mains, tu en feras passer tous les mâles au fil de l'épée. 14 Mais tu prendras pour toi les femmes, les enfants, le bétail, tout ce qui sera dans la ville, tout son butin, et tu mangeras les dépouilles de tes ennemis que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, t'aura livrés. 15 C'est ainsi que tu agiras à l'égard de toutes les villes qui sont très éloignées de toi, et qui ne font point partie des villes de ces nations-ci. 16 Mais dans les villes de ces peuples dont l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne le pays pour héritage, tu ne laisseras la vie à rien de ce qui respire. 17 Car tu dévoueras ces peuples par interdit, les Héthiens, les Amoréens, les Cananéens, les Phéréziens, les Héviens, et les Jébusiens, comme l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te l'a ordonné, 18 afin qu'ils ne vous apprennent pas à imiter toutes les abominations qu'ils font pour leurs dieux, et que vous ne péchiez point contre l'Éternel, votre Dieu. 19 Si tu fais un long siège pour t'emparer d'une ville avec laquelle tu es en guerre, tu ne détruiras point les arbres en y portant la hache, tu t'en nourriras et tu ne les abattras point; car l'arbre des champs est-il un homme pour être assiégé par toi? 20 Mais tu pourras détruire et abattre les arbres que tu sauras ne pas être des arbres servant à la nourriture, et en construire des retranchements contre la ville qui te fait la guerre, jusqu'à ce qu'elle succombe. | |
