11 Dia hoy Daniela tamin'ny mpiadidy, izay notendren'ny lehiben'ny tandapa ho mpiadidy an'i Daniela sy Hanania sy Misaela ary Azaria: 12 Masìna ianao, izahao toetra hafoloana izahay mpanomponao, ary aoka homena hanin-kotrana hohaninay sy rano hosotroinay. 13 Dia aoka hizahana eo anatrehanao ny tarehinay sy ny tarehin'ny zatovo izay mihinana ny anjara avy amin'ny hanin'ny mpanjaka, ary araka izay hitanao no ataovy amin'ny mpanomponao. 14 Ary nanaiky izany teny izany izy ka nizaha toetra azy hafoloana. 15 Ary nony tapitra ny hafoloana, dia hita fa mandimandina sy matavy aza ny tarehiny noho ny an'ny zatovo rehetra izay nihinana anjara avy tamin'ny hanin'ny mpanjaka. 16 Dia najanon'ilay mpiadidy ny anjara-haniny sy ny divay hosotroiny, ka hanin-kotrana no nomeny azy. 17 Ary ireo zatovo efa-dahy ireo dia nomen' Andriamanitra fahalalana sy saina ny amin'ny taratasy sy ny fahendrena rehetra; ary Daniela nahafantatra ny amin'ny fahitana sy ny nofy rehetra. 18 Ary nony tonga ny andro nasain'ny mpanjaka hampidirana azy, dia nentin'ilay lehiben'ny tandapa niditra teo anatrehan' i Nebokadnezara izy. 19 Ary ny mpanjaka niresaka taminy, ka tsy nisy hita izay tahaka an'i Daniela sy Hanania sy Misaela ary Azaria tamin'izy rehetra, ka dia nitoetra teo anatrehan'ny mpanjaka izy ireo. 20 Ary ny amin'ny fahendrena sy ny fahalalana rehetra izay nanontanian'ny mpanjaka azy, dia hitany fa nanan-tombo im-polo heny noho ny ombiasy rehetra sy ny mpisikidy izay teo amin'ny fanjakany rehetra aza izy. 21 Ary Daniela nahatratra ny taona voalohany nanjakan'i Kyrosy mpanjaka. | | 1 In the third year of the rule of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem, shutting it in with his forces. 2 And the Lord gave into his hands Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he took them away into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he put the vessels into the store-house of his god. 3 And the king gave orders to Ashpenaz, the captain of his unsexed servants, to take in some of the children of Israel, certain of the king's family, and those of high birth; 4 Young men who were strong and healthy, good-looking, and trained in all wisdom, having a good education and much knowledge, and able to take positions in the king's house; and to have them trained in the writing and language of the Chaldaeans. 5 And a regular amount of food and wine every day from the king's table was ordered for them by the king; and they were to be cared for for three years so that at the end of that time they might take their places before the king. 6 And among these there were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7 And the captain of the unsexed servants gave them names; to Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar, to Hananiah the name of Shadrach, to Mishael the name of Meshach, and to Azariah the name of Abed-nego. 8 And Daniel had come to the decision that he would not make himself unclean with the king's food or wine; so he made a request to the captain of the unsexed servants that he might not make himself unclean. 9 And God put into the heart of the captain of the unsexed servants kind feelings and pity for Daniel. 10 And the captain of the unsexed servants said to Daniel, I am in fear of my lord the king, who has given orders about your food and your drink; what if he sees you looking less happy than the other young men of your generation? then you would have put my head in danger from the king. 11 Then Daniel said to the keeper in whose care the captain of the unsexed servants had put Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: 12 Put your servants to the test for ten days; let them give us grain for our food and water for our drink. 13 Then take a look at our faces and the faces of the young men who have food from the king's table; and, having seen them, do to your servants as it seems right to you. 14 So he gave ear to them in this thing and put them to the test for ten days. 15 And at the end of ten days their faces seemed fairer and they were fatter in flesh than all the young men who had their food from the king's table. 16 So the keeper regularly took away their meat and the wine which was to have been their drink, and gave them grain. 17 Now as for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and made them expert in all book-learning and wisdom: and Daniel was wise in all visions and dreams. 18 Now at the end of the time fixed by the king for them to go in, the captain of the unsexed servants took them in to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 And the king had talk with them; and among them all there was no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; so they were given places before the king. 20 And in any business needing wisdom and good sense, about which the king put questions to them, he saw that they were ten times better than all the wonder-workers and users of secret arts in all his kingdom. 21 And Daniel went on till the first year of King Cyrus | | 1 La troisième année du règne de Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, vint à Jérusalem, et l’assiégea. 2 Et le Seigneur livra en sa main Jehoïakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des ustensiles de la maison de Dieu, et il les fit apporter dans le pays de Shinhar, dans la maison de son dieu : il fit porter les ustensiles dans la maison du trésor de son dieu. 3 Et le roi dit à Ashpenaz, chef de ses eunuques, d’amener d’entre les fils d’Israël, et de la semence royale et d’entre les nobles, 4 des jeunes gens en qui il n’y eût aucun défaut, et beaux de visage, et instruits en toute sagesse, et possédant des connaissances, et entendus en science, et qui fussent capables de se tenir dans le palais du roi, - et de leur enseigner les lettres et la langue des Chaldéens. 5 Et le roi leur assigna, pour chaque jour, une portion fixe des mets délicats du roi et du vin qu’il buvait, pour les élever pendant trois ans, à la fin desquels ils se tiendraient devant le roi. 6 Et parmi eux il y avait, d’entre les fils de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël, et Azaria ; 7 et le prince des eunuques leur donna des noms : à Daniel il donna [le nom de] Belteshatsar, et à Hanania celui de Shadrac, et à Mishaël celui de Méshac, et à Azaria celui d’Abed-Nego. 8 Et Daniel arrêta dans son coeur qu’il ne se souillerait point par les mets délicats du roi et par le vin qu’il buvait ; et il demanda au prince des eunuques [de lui permettre] de ne pas se souiller. 9 Et Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce auprès du prince des eunuques. 10 Et le prince des eunuques dit à Daniel : Je crains le roi mon seigneur, qui a prescrit votre nourriture et votre boisson ; car pourquoi verrait-il vos visages plus tristes que ceux des jeunes gens de votre âge ? Et vous exposeriez ma tête auprès du roi. 11 Et Daniel dit à l’intendant que le prince des eunuques avait établi sur Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria : 12 Éprouve, je te prie, tes serviteurs dix jours, et qu’on nous donne des légumes à manger, et de l’eau à boire ; 13 et on regardera, en ta présence, nos visages et le visage des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets délicats du roi ; et tu agiras avec tes serviteurs d’après ce que tu verras. 14 Et il les écouta dans cette affaire, et les mit à l’épreuve, dix jours ; 15 et, au bout de dix jours, leurs visages avaient meilleure apparence et étaient plus gras que ceux de tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets délicats du roi. 16 Alors l’intendant ôta leurs mets délicats et le vin de leur boisson, et leur donna des légumes. 17 Et à ces jeunes gens, aux quatre, Dieu donna de la science et de l’instruction dans toutes les lettres et dans toute la sagesse ; et Daniel avait de l’intelligence en toute vision et dans les songes.
18 Et, à la fin des jours où le roi avait dit de les amener, le prince des eunuques les amena devant Nebucadnetsar ; 19 et le roi parla avec eux, et entre eux tous il n’en fut trouvé aucun comme Daniel, Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria ; et ils se tinrent devant le roi. 20 Et dans toutes les choses qui réclamaient de la sagesse et de l’intelligence, au sujet desquelles le roi les interrogea, il les trouva dix fois supérieurs à tous les devins[et] enchanteurs qui étaient dans tout son royaume. 21 Et Daniel fut là jusqu’à la première année du roi Cyrus. | |
