Chapitre 14

1 Ary Asa nanao izay tsara sy mahitsy eo imason'i Jehovah Andriamanitra;

3 Ary nandidy ny Joda hitady an'i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny razany, izy ary hankatò ny lalàna sy ny didy.

4 Ary nandrava ny fitoerana avo sy ny tsangan-kazo* ho an'ny masoandro teny amin'ny tanànan'ny Joda rehetra izy; dia nandry fahizay ny fanjakana teo anatrehany.[Na: tsangam-bato]

5 Ary nanao tanàna mimanda tany Joda izy; ka dia nandry fahizay ny tany, fa tsy nisy ady tamin'izany andro izany; fa Jehovah no nanome azy fiadanana.

6 Dia hoy izy tamin'ny Joda: Andeha hamboarintsika ireto tanana ireto ka hasiantsika manda manodidina sy tilikambo ary vavahady mihidy, raha mbola azontsika zakaina ny tany; fa efa nitady an'i Jehovah Andriamanitsika isika; eny, nitady Azy isika, ka nanome antsika fiadanana amin'ny manodidina Izy. 7 Ary Asa nanana miaramila, dia telo hetsy mpitana ampinga lehibe sy lefona avy tamin'ny Joda, ary valo alina amby roa hetsy mpitana ampinga sy tsipìka avy amin'ny Benjamina; ireo rehetra ireo dia lehilahy mahery avokoa.

8 Ary Zera Etiopiana nivoaka hiady tamin'ireo ka nitondra miaramila iray tapitrisa sy kalesy telon-jato, ka dia tonga tao Maresa.

9 Ary Asa nivoaka hiady taminy, dia samy nilahatra hiady teo andohasaha Zefata akaikin'i Maresa izy.

10 Ary Asa nitaraina tamin'i Jehovah Andriamaniny ka nanao hoe: Jehovah ô, tsy misy afa-tsy Hianao no mahavonjy ny tsy manan-kery, raha iadian'ny maro izy*, ka vonjeo izahay, Jehovah Andriamanitray ô, fa Hianao no iankinanay, ary ny anaranao no andehananay hiady amin'ireto olona ireto. 14 Ary namely ny vala izy ka nahazo babo betsaka, dia ondry aman'osy sy rameva, ary dia niverina ho any Jerosalema izy.

Chapitre 14

14:1 So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days the land was quiet ten years. 14:2 Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of Yahweh his God: 14:3 for he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and broke down the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, 14:4 and commanded Judah to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. 14:5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. 14:6 He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because Yahweh had given him rest. 14:7 For he said to Judah, “Let us build these cities, and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought Yahweh our God; we have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered. 14:8 Asa had an army that bore bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred eighty thousand: all these were mighty men of valor. 14:9 There came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a million troops, and three hundred chariots; and he came to Mareshah. 14:10 Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. 14:11 Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Yahweh our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Yahweh, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”

14:12 So Yahweh struck the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. 14:13 Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar: and there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before Yahweh, and before his army; and they carried away very much booty. 14:14 They struck all the cities around Gerar; for the fear of Yahweh came on them: and they despoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them. 14:15 They struck also the tents of livestock, and carried away sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.

Chapitre 14
1 (13:23) Abija se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David. Et Asa, son fils, régna à sa place. De son temps, le pays fut en repos pendant dix ans. 2 (14:1) Asa fit ce qui est bien et droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, son Dieu. 3 (14:2) Il fit disparaître les autels de l'étranger et les hauts lieux, il brisa les statues et abattit les idoles. 4 (14:3) Il ordonna à Juda de rechercher l'Éternel, le Dieu de ses pères, et de pratiquer la loi et les commandements. 5 (14:4) Il fit disparaître de toutes les villes de Juda les hauts lieux et les statues consacrées au soleil. Et le royaume fut en repos devant lui. 6 (14:5) Il bâtit des villes fortes en Juda; car le pays fut tranquille et il n'y eut pas de guerre contre lui pendant ces années-là, parce que l'Éternel lui donna du repos. 7 (14:6) Il dit à Juda: Bâtissons ces villes, et entourons-les de murs, de tours, de portes et de barres; le pays est encore devant nous, car nous avons recherché l'Éternel, notre Dieu, nous l'avons recherché, et il nous a donné du repos de tous côtés. Ils bâtirent donc, et réussirent. 8 (14:7) Asa avait une armée de trois cent mille hommes de Juda, portant le bouclier et la lance, et de deux cent quatre-vingt mille de Benjamin, portant le bouclier et tirant de l'arc, tous vaillants hommes. 9 (14:8) Zérach, l'Éthiopien, sortit contre eux avec une armée d'un million d'hommes et trois cents chars, et il s'avança jusqu'à Maréscha. 10 (14:9) Asa marcha au-devant de lui, et ils se rangèrent en bataille dans la vallée de Tsephata, près de Maréscha. 11 (14:10) Asa invoqua l'Éternel, son Dieu, et dit: Éternel, toi seul peux venir en aide au faible comme au fort: viens à notre aide, Éternel, notre Dieu! car c'est sur toi que nous nous appuyons, et nous sommes venus en ton nom contre cette multitude. Éternel, tu es notre Dieu: que ce ne soit pas l'homme qui l'emporte sur toi! 12 (14:11) L'Éternel frappa les Éthiopiens devant Asa et devant Juda, et les Éthiopiens prirent la fuite. 13 (14:12) Asa et le peuple qui était avec lui les poursuivirent jusqu'à Guérar, et les Éthiopiens tombèrent sans pouvoir sauver leur vie, car ils furent détruits par l'Éternel et par son armée. Asa et son peuple firent un très grand butin; 14 (14:13) ils frappèrent toutes les villes des environs de Guérar, car la terreur de l'Éternel s'était emparée d'elles, et ils pillèrent toutes les villes, dont les dépouilles furent considérables. 15 (14:14) Ils frappèrent aussi les tentes des troupeaux, et ils emmenèrent une grande quantité de brebis et de chameaux. Puis ils retournèrent à Jérusalem.
