15:1 In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah to reign. 15:2 Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. 15:3 He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. 15:4 However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. 15:5 Yahweh struck the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house. Jotham the king’s son was over the household, judging the people of the land. 15:6 Now the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 15:7 Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Jotham his son reigned in his place. 15:8 In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam reigned over Israel in Samaria six months. 15:9 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as his fathers had done: he didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. 15:10 Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him before the people, and killed him, and reigned in his place. 15:11 Now the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 15:12 This was the word of Yahweh which he spoke to Jehu, saying, “Your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.” So it came to pass.

15:13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned for a month in Samaria. 15:14 Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and struck Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and killed him, and reigned in his place. 15:15 Now the rest of the acts of Shallum, and his conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 15:16 Then Menahem struck Tiphsah, and all who were therein, and its borders, from Tirzah: because they didn’t open to him, therefore he struck it; and all the women therein who were with child he ripped up. 15:17 In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem the son of Gadi began to reign over Israel for ten years in Samaria. 15:18 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn’t depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. 15:19 There came against the land Pul the king of Assyria; and Menahem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand. 15:20 Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and didn’t stay there in the land. 15:21 Now the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 15:22 Menahem slept with his fathers; and Pekahiah his son reigned in his place. 15:23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria for two years. 15:24 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. 15:25 Pekah the son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against him, and struck him in Samaria, in the castle of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh; and with him were fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his place. 15:26 Now the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 15:27 In the two and fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remaliah began to reign over Israel in Samaria for twenty years. 15:28 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: he didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. 15:29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel Beth Maacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria. 15:30 Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and struck him, and killed him, and reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah. 15:31 Now the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 15:32 In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign. 15:33 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok. 15:34 He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done. 15:35 However the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh. 15:36 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 15:37 In those days Yahweh began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah. 15:38 Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.

1 La vingt-septième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Azaria, fils d'Amatsia, roi de Juda, régna. 2 Il avait seize ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Jecolia, de Jérusalem. 3 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, entièrement comme avait fait Amatsia, son père. 4 Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux. 5 L'Éternel frappa le roi, qui fut lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort et demeura dans une maison écartée. Et Jotham, fils du roi, était à la tête de la maison et jugeait le peuple du pays. 6 Le reste des actions d'Azaria, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? 7 Azaria se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Jotham, son fils, régna à sa place. 8 La trente-huitième année d'Azaria, roi de Juda, Zacharie, fils de Jéroboam, régna sur Israël à Samarie. Il régna six mois. 9 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme avaient fait ses pères; il ne se détourna point des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël. 10 Schallum, fils de Jabesch, conspira contre lui, le frappa devant le peuple, et le fit mourir; et il régna à sa place. 11 Le reste des actions de Zacharie, cela est écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël. 12 Ainsi s'accomplit ce que l'Éternel avait déclaré à Jéhu, en disant: Tes fils jusqu'à la quatrième génération seront assis sur le trône d'Israël. 13 Schallum, fils de Jabesch, régna la trente-neuvième année d'Ozias, roi de Juda. Il régna pendant un mois à Samarie. 14 Menahem, fils de Gadi, monta de Thirtsa et vint à Samarie, frappa dans Samarie Schallum, fils de Jabesch, et le fit mourir; et il régna à sa place. 15 Le reste des actions de Schallum, et la conspiration qu'il forma, cela est écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël. 16 Alors Menahem frappa Thiphsach et tous ceux qui y étaient, avec son territoire depuis Thirtsa; il la frappa parce qu'elle n'avait pas ouvert ses portes, et il fendit le ventre de toutes les femmes enceintes. 17 La trente-neuvième année d'Azaria, roi de Juda, Menahem, fils de Gadi, régna sur Israël. Il régna dix ans à Samarie. 18 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel; il ne se détourna point, tant qu'il vécut, des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël. 19 Pul, roi d'Assyrie, vint dans le pays; et Menahem donna à Pul mille talents d'argent, pour qu'il l'aidât à affermir la royauté entre ses mains. 20 Menahem leva cet argent sur tous ceux d'Israël qui avaient de la richesse, afin de le donner au roi d'Assyrie; il les taxa chacun à cinquante sicles d'argent. Le roi d'Assyrie s'en retourna, et ne s'arrêta pas alors dans le pays. 21 Le reste des actions de Menahem, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël? 22 Menahem se coucha avec ses pères. Et Pekachia, son fils, régna à sa place. 23 La cinquantième année d'Azaria, roi de Juda, Pekachia, fils de Menahem, régna sur Israël à Samarie. Il régna deux ans. 24 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel; il ne se détourna point des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël. 25 Pékach, fils de Remalia, son officier, conspira contre lui; il le frappa à Samarie, dans le palais de la maison du roi, de même qu'Argob et Arié; il avait avec lui cinquante hommes d'entre les fils des Galaadites. Il fit ainsi mourir Pekachia, et il régna à sa place. 26 Le reste des actions de Pekachia, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela est écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël. 27 La cinquante-deuxième année d'Azaria, roi de Juda, Pékach, fils de Remalia, régna sur Israël à Samarie. Il régna vingt ans. 28 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel; il ne se détourna point des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël. 29 Du temps de Pékach, roi d'Israël, Tiglath-Piléser, roi d'Assyrie, vint et prit Ijjon, Abel-Beth-Maaca, Janoach, Kédesch, Hatsor, Galaad et la Galilée, tout le pays de Nephthali, et il emmena captifs les habitants en Assyrie. 30 Osée, fils d'Éla, forma une conspiration contre Pékach, fils de Remalia, le frappa et le fit mourir; et il régna à sa place, la vingtième année de Jotham, fils d'Ozias. 31 Le reste des actions de Pékach, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela est écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël. 32 La seconde année de Pékach, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, Jotham, fils d'Ozias, roi de Juda, régna. 33 Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Jeruscha, fille de Tsadok. 34 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel; il agit entièrement comme avait agi Ozias, son père. 35 Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux. Jotham bâtit la porte supérieure de la maison de l'Éternel. 36 Le reste des actions de Jotham, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? 37 Dans ce temps-là, l'Éternel commença à envoyer contre Juda Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékach, fils de Remalia. 38 Jotham se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père. Et Achaz, son fils, régna à sa place.
