Chapitre 3

3 tsy mpimamo lian'ady, tsy mpikapoka, fa mandefitra, tsy mpila ady, tsy mpitia vola,

4 manapaka tsara ny ankohonany, mampanaiky ny zanany amin'ny fahamaotinana tsara

5 (fa raha misy olona tsy mahay mitondra ny ankohonany, hataony ahoana no fitandrina ny fiangonan*'Andriamanitra?), [* Gr. eklesia]

6 tsy izay zazavao amin'ny fivavahana, fandrao hieboebo foana izy ka ho latsaka amin'ny fahamelohan'ny devoly.

7 Ary tsy maintsy ho tsara laza koa amin'izay eny ivelany izy, fandrao ho lavo amin'ny fananan-tsiny sy ny fandriky ny devoly.

8 Ny diakona koa toy izany ihany, ho maotona, tsy miroa teny, tsy tia divay be, tsy tia harena maloto,

9 mitandrina tsara ny zava-miafina ny amin'ny finoana amin'ny fieritreretana madio.

10 Ary aoka hizahan-toetra ireo aloha, dia vao hanao ny asan'ny diakona izy, raha tsy manan-tsiny.

11 Ny vehivavy koa ho toy izany ihany: maotona, tsy mpanendrikendrika, mahonon-tena, mahatoky amin'ny zavatra rehetra.

12 Aoka ny diakona samy hanam-bady tokana sady hanapaka tsara ny zanany sy ny ankohonany.

13 Fa izay efa mahavatra tsara ny asan'ny diakona dia mahazo toerana tsara ho an'ny tenany sy fahasahiana be amin'ny finoana izay ao amin'i Kristy Jesosy.

14 Izany zavatra izany dia soratako aminao, na dia manantena hankatỳ aminao faingana aza aho;

15 fa raha tratra ela aho, dia ny hahafantaranao izay fitondran-tena mety hatao ao an-tranon'Andriamanitra, dia ny fiangonan*'Andriamanitra velona, sady andry sy fiorenan'ny fahamarinana. [* Gr. eklesia]

16 Ary iaraha-manaiky mihitsy fa lehibe ny zava-miafina ny amin'ny toe-panahy araka an'Andriamanitra, dia Ilay naseho teo amin'ny nofo, nohamarinina tao amin'ny Fanahy; hitan'ny anjely, notorina tany amin'ny jentilisa, ninoana teny amin'izao tontolo izao, nakarina tamin*'ny voninahitra. Chapitre 3 

3:1 This is a faithful saying: if a man seeks the office of an overseer, he desires a good work. 3:2 The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching; 3:3 not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 3:4 one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence; 3:5 (but if a man doesn’t know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?) 3:6 not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 3:7 Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.

3:8 Servants, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money; 3:9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 3:10 Let them also first be tested; then let them serve if they are blameless. 3:11 Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 3:12 Let servants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 3:13 For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

3:14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly; 3:15 but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God’s house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 3:16 Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great:

God was revealed in the flesh,
justified in the spirit,
seen by angels,
preached among the nations,
believed on in the world,
and received up in glory.

Chapitre 3 
1 Cette parole est certaine: Si quelqu'un aspire à la charge d'évêque, il désire une oeuvre excellente. 2 Il faut donc que l'évêque soit irréprochable, mari d'une seule femme, sobre, modéré, réglé dans sa conduite, hospitalier, propre à l'enseignement. 3 Il faut qu'il ne soit ni adonné au vin, ni violent, mais indulgent, pacifique, désintéressé. 4 Il faut qu'il dirige bien sa propre maison, et qu'il tienne ses enfants dans la soumission et dans une parfaite honnêteté; 5 car si quelqu'un ne sait pas diriger sa propre maison, comment prendra-t-il soin de l'Église de Dieu? 6 Il ne faut pas qu'il soit un nouveau converti, de peur qu'enflé d'orgueil il ne tombe sous le jugement du diable. 7 Il faut aussi qu'il reçoive un bon témoignage de ceux du dehors, afin de ne pas tomber dans l'opprobre et dans les pièges du diable. 8 Les diacres aussi doivent être honnêtes, éloignés de la duplicité, des excès du vin, d'un gain sordide, 9 conservant le mystère de la foi dans une conscience pure. 10 Qu'on les éprouve d'abord, et qu'ils exercent ensuite leur ministère, s'ils sont sans reproche. 11 Les femmes, de même, doivent être honnêtes, non médisantes, sobres, fidèles en toutes choses. 12 Les diacres doivent être maris d'une seule femme, et diriger bien leurs enfants et leurs propres maisons; 13 car ceux qui remplissent convenablement leur ministère s'acquièrent un rang honorable, et une grande assurance dans la foi en Jésus-Christ. 14 Je t'écris ces choses, avec l'espérance d'aller bientôt vers toi, 15 mais afin que tu saches, si je tarde, comment il faut se conduire dans la maison de Dieu, qui est l'Église du Dieu vivant, la colonne et l'appui de la vérité. 16 Et, sans contredit, le mystère de la piété est grand: celui qui a été manifesté en chair, justifié par l'Esprit, vu des anges, prêché aux Gentils, cru dans le monde, élevé dans la gloire.
