Chapitre 11

2 Fa hoy Nahasy Amonita: Izao no hanaovako fanekena aminareo: hopotsirina ny masonareo ankavanana rehetra, ka hataoko fandatsana ny Isiraely rehetra izany.

3 Fa hoy ny loholon'i Jabesy taminy: Omeo andro hafitoana izahay, mba hanirahanay olona ho any amin'ny fari-tanin'ny Isiraely rehetra, ka raha tàhiny tsy misy olona hamonjy anay, dia hivoaka hanatona anao izahay.

4 Dia tonga tany Gibean'i Saoly ny iraka ka nanambara ny teniny teo anatrehan'ny vahoaka; dia nanandratra ny feony ny vahoaka rehetra ka nitomany.

5 Ary, indro, Saoly tonga nandroaka ny omby avy tany an-tsaha ka nanao hoe: Inona izato nanjo ny olona, no mitomany izy? Ary nambarany azy ny tenin'ny mponina tao Jabesy.

8 Ary nandamina azy tany Bezeka izy, dia telo hetsy no isan'ny Zanak'Isiraely, ary telo alina no isan'ny lehilahy amin'ny Joda.

9 Ary hoy izy tamin'ny iraka izay tonga teo: Izao no holazainareo amin'ny mponina ao Jabesi-gileada: Rahampitso ilay efa mafampana iny dia hisy famonjena ho anareo. Dia tonga ny iraka ka nanambara izany tamin'ny mponina tao Jabesy; ka dia faly ireo.

10 Ary hoy ny mponina tao Jabesy: Rahampitso no hivoahanay ho eny aminareo, dia hataonareo aminay izay rehetra sitrakareo.

11 Ary nony maraina, dia nozarain'i Saoly ho telo toko ny olona, ka tonga teo amin'ny toby tamin'ny fiambenana maraina izy ary namely ny Amonita mandra-pahafampanan'ny andro; koa izay sisa dia niely patrana, ka tsy nisy olona tafaraka na dia hatramin'ny roa aza.

12 Ary hoy ny vahoaka tamin'i Samoela: Iza moa no nanao hoe: Saoly va no hanjaka aminay? Atolory ireny olona ireny hataonay maty.

Chapitre 11

11:1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.” 11:2 Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “On this condition I will make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach on all Israel.”

11:3 The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven day, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you.” 11:4 Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

11:5 Behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, “What ails the people that they weep?” They told him the words of the men of Jabesh. 11:6 The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly. 11:7 He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, “Whoever doesn’t come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen.” The dread of Yahweh fell on the people, and they came out as one man. 11:8 He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand. 11:9 They said to the messengers who came, “Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, ‘Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.’” The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad. 11:10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, “Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you.” 11:11 It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together. 11:12 The people said to Samuel, “Who is he who said, ‘Shall Saul reign over us?’ Bring those men, that we may put them to death!”

11:13 Saul said, “There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Yahweh has worked deliverance in Israel.” 11:14 Then Samuel said to the people, “Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.” 11:15 All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yahweh in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Yahweh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

Chapitre 11
1 Nachasch, l'Ammonite, vint assiéger Jabès en Galaad. Tous les habitants de Jabès dirent à Nachasch: Traite alliance avec nous, et nous te servirons. 2 Mais Nachasch, l'Ammonite, leur répondit: Je traiterai avec vous à la condition que je vous crève à tous l'oeil droit, et que j'imprime ainsi un opprobre sur tout Israël. 3 Les anciens de Jabès lui dirent: Accorde-nous une trêve de sept jours, afin que nous envoyions des messagers dans tout le territoire d'Israël; et s'il n'y a personne qui nous secoure, nous nous rendrons à toi. 4 Les messagers arrivèrent à Guibea de Saül, et dirent ces choses aux oreilles du peuple. Et tout le peuple éleva la voix, et pleura. 5 Et voici, Saül revenait des champs, derrière ses boeufs, et il dit: Qu'a donc le peuple pour pleurer? On lui raconta ce qu'avaient dit ceux de Jabès. 6 Dès que Saül eut entendu ces choses, il fut saisi par l'esprit de Dieu, et sa colère s'enflamma fortement. 7 Il prit une paire de boeufs, et les coupa en morceaux, qu'il envoya par les messagers dans tout le territoire d'Israël, en disant: Quiconque ne marchera pas à la suite de Saül et de Samuel, aura ses boeufs traités de la même manière. La terreur de l'Éternel s'empara du peuple, qui se mit en marche comme un seul homme. 8 Saül en fit la revue à Bézek; les enfants d'Israël étaient trois cent mille, et les hommes de Juda trente mille. 9 Ils dirent aux messagers qui étaient venus: Vous parlerez ainsi aux habitants de Jabès en Galaad: Demain vous aurez du secours, quand le soleil sera dans sa chaleur. Les messagers portèrent cette nouvelle à ceux de Jabès, qui furent remplis de joie; 10 et qui dirent aux Ammonites: Demain nous nous rendrons à vous, et vous nous traiterez comme bon vous semblera. 11 Le lendemain, Saül divisa le peuple en trois corps. Ils pénétrèrent dans le camp des Ammonites à la veille du matin, et ils les battirent jusqu'à la chaleur du jour. Ceux qui échappèrent furent dispersés, et il n'en resta pas deux ensemble. 12 Le peuple dit à Samuel: Qui est-ce qui disait: Saül régnera-t-il sur nous? Livrez ces gens, et nous les ferons mourir. 13 Mais Saül dit: Personne ne sera mis à mort en ce jour, car aujourd'hui l'Éternel a opéré une délivrance en Israël. 14 Et Samuel dit au peuple: Venez, et allons à Guilgal, pour y confirmer la royauté. 15 Tout le peuple se rendit à Guilgal, et ils établirent Saül pour roi, devant l'Éternel, à Guilgal. Là, ils offrirent des sacrifices d'actions de grâces devant l'Éternel; et là, Saül et tous les hommes d'Israël se livrèrent à de grandes réjouissances.
